Welcome to the blog for KidsReadingCircle.com site. Unlike KRC, which provides booklists and other material that will help kids choose books, this blog is primarily guidance that will help parents help kids choose books.
Got that? Now, on to the fun.
Today, we begin by testing out a new category we are considering adding to KidsReadingCircle.com. Are you ready for…?
Favorite First Lines! Of kid’s novels, that is.
Present these lines to your kids, and see if they can guess the book titles. You too, adults. And even if you flounder, the subject is sure to spark some conversation between you and your pre-teen. I say pre-teen because the books I’ve chosen are on our Middle Reader list at KidsReadingCircle.com.
- “The light woke Jessie, though it was just a glimmer downstairs.”
- “Sylvie had an amazing life, but she didn’t get to live it very often.”
- “There was a time once when the earth was still very young, a time some call the oldest days.”
- “If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?”
- “These two very old people are the father and mother of Mr. Bucket.”
Can you guess the book titles that start with these lines? Be my guest and comment me your answers. I’ll post the finals in my next entry.
Happy Reading…
